CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington volleyball is back at Reese Court this fall as the team released its schedule. Head coach Jon Haruguchi announced the 2024 slate, with the regular season starting on August 30 on the road. EWU has nine home matches for the upcoming season, with seven against Big Sky opponents.

The Eagles will play an exhibition game on Aug. 24 at Central Washington.

"We are very excited about this upcoming season. During the preseason, we will have an opportunity to kick off our home schedule with Washington State on September 4th on our new floor in Reese Court, which will be very exciting for our team and our fans," head coach Jon Haruguchi said. "I am also really looking forward to our tournament at the University of Toledo. We will have a chance to play some different teams while traveling to a part of the country that is new to some of our players. We have three common opponents from last season in [CSU] Bakersfield, Gonzaga and San Diego State which gives us a unique perspective on our growth from a season ago. I believe we have some nice diversity in our opponents that allow us to keep challenging ourselves and moving this program forward."

EWU's first regular season matches are in Orem, Utah in a two-day tournament hosted by Utah Valley. The team opens with the Wolverines on the 30th, followed by a match against Cal State Bakersfield later that day. The tournament concludes with a match against the University of Missouri-Kansas City on Aug. 31.

Eastern has a home-and-home against Washington State, playing at Reese on September 4 then in Pullman two days later.

A week later, the Eagles travel for their second tournament, hosted by Toledo. EWU plays the Rockets on Sep. 13 with a match against Marshall the same day. The tournament concludes for the team against Northern Kentucky on Sep. 14.

Back closer to home, Eastern will participate in the Gonzaga tournament, facing the 'Zags in Spokane on Sep. 21. EWU plays San Diego State in a match earlier on the 21st as well.

The conference schedule begins on Sep. 26 for the Eagles against Idaho State in Pocatello. Eastern returns to Cheney to play Sacramento State in the Big Sky home opener.

EWU plays its next three matches on the road against Idaho (Oct. 5), Montana State (Oct. 10) and Montana (Oct. 12).

The Eagles open a four-match homestand on Oct. 17 against the Bengals. The next three matches have Eastern facing Weber State (Oct. 19), Northern Colorado (Oct. 25) and Northern Arizona (Oct. 26).

Closing out October and into November, EWU takes on Portland State (Oct. 31) and the second match against Hornets (Nov. 2), this time in Sacramento.

The final homestand for the Eagles begins on Nov. 7 against the Grizzlies, followed by a Nov. 9 matchup against Bobcats.

Eastern celebrates senior night on Nov. 15 with the second matchup against the Vandals.

To end the regular season, Eastern travels to play the Lumberjacks (Nov. 21) and the Bears (Nov. 23) in Flagstaff, Ariz. and Greeley, Colo. respectively.

The 2024 Big Sky Conference championships are in Sacramento, Calif. this November (27-29).

EWU looks to build off the momentum of a successful 2023 campaign, as the team upset the No. 2 seed, Northern Colorado (3-2), in Greeley during the conference tournament. It was Eastern's first postseason win since 2008.

The Eagles were 6-10 in the Big Sky last season and 13-17 overall. Starting his third season leading the team, Haruguchi returns 13 players from the '23 squad. The returners include 2023 All-Big Sky second team selection Bri Gunderson, along with 2022 second team selection, Alyssa Radke, who returns after missing last season with an injury.

Haruguchi bolstered the roster with three signees in the offseason including outside hitters Quincy Moran and Tennillle Gonder, along with setter Anna Bolich.
