Ideally, we all have space to completely deck our homes out with all the NordicTrack equipment we could ever want. But, in reality, bringing home fitness equipment can start a hunt to find the best storage space to put the machine.
For one thing, if finding storage space at all is tricky, you might want to order a treadmill that folds. Most NordicTrack treadmills will fold up easily thanks to the SpaceSaver® Design and EasyLift™ Assist. The Incline Trainer treadmills do not fold, so keep that in mind as you pick your perfect machine.
To help you find the best way to store your treadmill, here are five creative treadmill storage ideas that can help you utilize your space more sufficiently:
Idea #1: Modify A Hall Closet Into A Treadmill Cupboard
If you are looking to keep your treadmill in the house but you don’t want it in the living room all the time, you may want to modify a hall closet. Maybe the linens have to find a new home, but it is more likely easier to find a new spot for your spare towels and bedsheets than to find a new storage area for your treadmill.
Even with the more compact EXP series treadmills, any hall closet that was going to store a treadmill may need to be free of shelves with a wide enough door frame and enough space to shut the hall closet door or shielded with a curtain.
Idea #2: Convert An Underutilized Space
If you have a basem*nt or an attic, you may want to set apart some storage space for your treadmill. In these underutilized areas, you may find you have more luck in finding a spot for your machine rather than leaving it in the living room or another high-traffic room.
Another underutilized area of the home you may not have considered is your loft. Usually found right off of a staircase, lofts are generally too small to be a second living room or den, but too big to be just a hallway. Instead of leaving this area empty or putting a few bean bag chairs around the edges, you can throw down a treadmill mat and place a treadmill up there.
These rooms will need to be climate-controlled and clean to prevent the voiding of your treadmill warranty and to protect your treadmill long-term.
Idea #3: Use A Partition To Create Separate Areas
Your treadmill doesn’t have to be banished from whatever room it is currently in to have it properly stored. Instead, you can add a partition to create visual space between your treadmill and the rest of the room.
For example, say that your aesthetic leans toward artistic bohemian. Having your treadmill sitting in the corner of your boho chic living room can create some pretty strong visual clashing. But by adding something as simple as a curtain you can draw around your treadmill or a free-standing screen, you can easily partition your treadmill in a brand new area.
Idea #4: Revamp The Shed
You may want to consider revamping your outdoor stand-alone shed into a treadmill storage space. While the same temperature, dirt, dust, pest, and humidity concerns remain, using a shed as your treadmill exercise area can free up your entire home.
Even if you don’t currently have a shed you can give up for your treadmill, you can purchase a stand-alone shed from a home improvement store. This shed should be fully converted into a climate-controlled workout space. It should not play host to the lawnmower and other tools, as any excess dust, dirt, and lack of climate-control will end up with a voided warranty.
Idea #5: Clear Out Under Your Stairs
Under your stairs maybe a closet that has become packed with odds and ends, from Christmas decor to the vacuum cleaner, much like a hall closet. But, unlike a hall closet, there is usually enough room under your stairs to store a folded-up treadmill without having to do much besides relocating the clutter.
