General SummaryUnder the supervision of a Communications Supervisor, the purpose of this position is to receive requests for police, fire and emergency medical assistance from the public and dispatch these requests to the appropriate agencies.
Employment QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Data entry and computer use experience preferred; prior work experience with public safety dispatching desired.
Licenses And Certifications
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must maintain performance certifications and minimum training standards required by State and Federal guidelines.
Within 24 months from date of hire, shall complete Module Two, a 40-hour telecommunicator training course approved by the State 9-1-1 Numbers Committee.
Other Requirements
Must complete Michigan LEIN operator training.
Maintain LEIN/NICI fingerprint clearance.
Pursue continuous professional development for current trends in communications/dispatch and emergency service practices.
